About

Pittsburgh-based disease advocacy organization called the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation as their Science & Alliance Officer. I have a personal connection to the foundation in that I lost my first daughter (Natalie) to mitochondrial disease a decade ago, but the main reason I joined UMDF staff is because of the very real opportunity that now exists to facilitate therapeutic development for this class of rare diseases. We are actively engaging the pharma community and it is not hard to see that a wave of trials, and hopefully, therapies are coming. 100's of diseases are under the mitochondrial umbrella. They manage 3 to 4 million in grant research.
